Beginning Jan. 1, Tom McCarthy is relinquishing rep duties for K2 Telemark and Dana Designs product in New England to the Velocity Sales and Marketing team of Mike Schmidt and Bill Bruzesse. Velocity also represents Garmont, Rottefella, Little Bear Snowshoes, Horny Toad Sportswear, Costa del Mar and Aloe. No doubt K2 was impressed with Velocity's enthusiasm for the tele category. They recently sponsored the first Telemark University, held at Climb High in early November to "elevate retail staff knowledge around category development and the retailers role, telemark boot fitting/construction, and ski design/construction." Apparently the program was standing-room-only. Schmidt tells us that he and Bruzesse plan to apply the same format to a spring/summer outdoor summit focusing on Dana and other backpacking brands.
