On the heels of turning down an offer to join the Outdoor Industry Association, the Trade Association of Paddlesports (TAPS) and the Professional Paddlesports Association (PPA) today announced an alliance focused on "building the value of the paddlesports industry." According to a Memorandum of Understanding signed in January, both organizations will maintain their separate identity and corporate status and agree to work cooperatively on projects to benefit the paddlesports industry and paddlesports businesses. PPA and TAPS begin work on co-publishing a consumer directory of member businesses that will be available in the coming months. TAPS members will now also receive access to PPA's Recreation Insurance Association (RIA), an industry-specific insurance program designed by and for paddlesports professionals. Other coordinated benefits and projects are in the works.
