American alpinist Steve House recently returned from the Himalayan peak Nuptse East completing roughly three-quarters of his proposed alpine objective on the South Face. The strong international team of House, Canadian Barry Blanchard and Slovenian Marko Prezelj reached 7200 meters to the base of final headwall of this 7855-meter peak. Bad weather, snow and high winds ultimately forced the group to descend after a bivouac at their highpoint for two nights.
