Sport Chalet, Inc. sales, for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2002, increased 5.8 percent from $214.8 million to $227.3 million. Net income, however, dipped dramatically, from $7.3 million last year to $4.8 million for this year. The company blamed extremely poor winter-related merchandise sales, coupled with a collapse of the scooter market that forced the company to dramatically slash prices resulting in decreased gross margins.
