Outside magazine's communications director Josephine Parr emailed SNEWS® this morning to let us know that the magazine has been nominated for a National Magazine Award for its August 2005 article, "Raising the Dead," by Tim Zimmerman. "It is a detailed account of Dave Shaw finding the body of a missing 20-year-old diver while Dave set a new record in cave diving. Dave promised to go back and retrieve the body, but he died in this quest. The story was featured on Nightline with Ted Koppel. Nightline has submitted the piece to be considered for an Emmy. We are all thrilled at Outside!" Parr told us. SNEWS® read the piece and has to agree, it was an excellent story of a very tragic event. Congrats to Zimmerman and Outside for the nomination.
