Seattle, Wash.-based footwear manufacturer Montrail announced that the company will sponsor an elite adventure racing team which has raced under the name Team Rubicon as well as for Pearl Izumi.

Seattle, Wash.-based footwear manufacturer Montrail announced that the company will sponsor an elite adventure racing team which has raced under the name Team Rubicon as well as for Pearl Izumi. Team Montrail consists of Rebecca Rusch, Patrick Harper, Shane Sigle and Novak Thompson. CEO Menno Van Wyk said Montrail's sponsorship of the internationally ranked team will strengthen its position as a company that is focused on building technically innovative footwear for elite outdoor athletes and dedicated enthusiasts. The team’s first event – racing as Team Montrail – will be at the Appalachian Extreme in Maine. The team will also compete in up to a dozen more events in 2002, including Primal Quest in Colorado (July 7-16), and the Eco-Challenge in Fiji (October11-21). Beyond competitions, Team Montrail will represent the company at appearances, trade shows, training clinics and at other events. Montrail will underwrite the team’s travel and race expenses, and provide the team with footwear.
