John Forcillo, founder and owner of Millenium Fitness and the Body Cycle brand, died in a tragic automobile accident in Quebec, Canada, on Jan. 24. He was 53.

Body Cycle was based in Laval, Quebec, and was the owner of several patents for indoor group-cycling bikes, with one covering the bikes' brake/disengagement system and the adjustable vertical handlebar that eliminated the need for pop-pins. A second covered the variable, vertical seat adjustment system. Both were issued in 2003, and Forcillo, who was CEO and president, had noted he would actively enforce these patents to protect the Body Cycle product.

No detail of the accident is available, and the phone at Body Cycle was not being answered as of Feb. 9.

Funeral services were on Feb. 3. He is survived by his wife, Mary, who was also injured in the accident, according to reports; as well as brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Millenium Fitness / Body Cycle (www.bodycycle.com) is still listed as an exhibitor at the IHRSA trade show, March 21-23.
