An urban multi-sport team event in Munich, Germany, called the Odlo Fast Forward (title sponsor: Switzerland-based Odlo, of course) July 28 just days before summer ispo's start brought out 16 teams of four each including everyone from sports company management, ispo directors and Olympic medallists. Each team member of each team had to participate in four endeavors -- running, mountain biking, inline skating, and Nordic Walking (fast walking with poles) -- with times for each added to determine winners. Team Salomon was the overall winner, followed by Petrusquelle, co-sponsor Tirol (wait, could it have been rigged?), and SV Muenchen (a sports club. Heck, ispo management's team placed fifth overall, even after losing athletic show director Peter Knoll to an injury. Team member Tobias Groeber, director for running, fitness, bike and outdoor show segments, told SNEWS® the event in Munich's central park was incredibly fun, but that he'd "rather run a marathon because that wouldn't be as hard." He also begged us not to laugh (we told him we wouldn't, and oh no we still aren't, we promised, didn't we Tobi?) when he admitted the Nordic Walking section was the hardest. "The coordination of the arms and legs was for some 80 percent of participants pretty difficult," he said, particularly since the course had some obstacles. SNEWS® View: Now this sounds like fun, and it's a great idea for pre-show that can involve participants, exhibitors and even the community.
