A just-released survey of Internet users came up with the opposite of what people somehow think. It revealed that Internet users actually socialize more with their family and friends than non-Internet users. What ends up getting axed out of the equation is quite as much TV time, according to the survey by the University of California, Los Angeles. "Without question, Internet users are 'buying' some of their time to go online from the time they used to spend watching television," said Jeff Cole, director of the UCLA Center for Communication Policy, quoted by the Associated Press. Users and non-users spend the same amount of time on most household activities, like meal-time and sports, the survey also found. Other findings: Nearly 3 of 4 Americans have Internet access, up from about 2 of 3 a year ago. Users spend 9.8 hours a week online, up from 9.4 hours a week a year ago.
