Musical innovator Frank Black & The Catholics will be at the Freeride Happy Hour, a festival of free beer, free music and free gear to celebrate the inspiration, innovation, and success that the outdoor industry stands for, thanks to Hooked on the Outdoors magazine, Salomon, W.L. Gore & Associates, the Utah Division of Business & Economic Development, and the Utah Sports Commission. Slated for Friday, Aug. 9, from 6-8 pm, the "Freeride Happy Hour" will be held in the Salt Palace Convention Center Courtyard Plaza, and is open to all Outdoor Retailer Summer Market attendees. Dos Equis will provide free beer for outdoor industry concertgoers of legal age, and "free gear" door prizes will be given away to the crowd between sets. SNEWS® View: This is one industry party that is sure to rock in multiple ways. Of course, if they were really touting the innovative spirit that drives the industry, and celebrating creativity, we would have thought the organizers would have managed to do better than Dos Equis! Not a bad beer to be sure, but innovative? Creative? Wouldn't a microbrew be that and more? Just wondering.
