Blue Ridge Mountain Sports formally presented its 2005 "Rep of the Year" award at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market to John Fellers and First Ascent Sales, which represent The North Face in the Southeast. The award is given to sales reps who go "above and beyond to provide Blue Ridge Mountain Sports with superior service and attention."

This is the third year Blue Ridge Mountain Sports has given the award. Walt Bailey of Patagonia and Bill Chandler of Nomad are prior recipients.

SNEWS® was told that the recipient of the Rep of the Year award is determined by emailed ballots sent to all sales staff and buyers at each of Blue Ridge Mountain Sports' 13 locations. The ballots are write-in with no rep names or company names provided to prompt responses.

Retail staff and buyers vote for the Rep of the Year based on a general feeling of support the store feels was given by a rep in helping to resolve shipment issues, provide superior support in the buying and selling process, offer excellent clinics to store staff, and establish a relationship with the team beyond simply a "how much of my product have you sold lately" attitude.
