Backpacker magazine's Web site -- www.backpacker.com -- has received a "Certificate Of Creative Achievement Award" presented by The International Web Page Awards, reported to be the largest independent festival of Web site graphic artists and designers on the Internet. The awards, established in 1998 as an international forum for ranking the best Web designers in the world, recognizes the greatest achievements in Web site design, content and application. According to the press release, this year's contest drew 700 entries from 26 different countries. The awards banquet will take place on April 24 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, Calif. SNEWS® View: Many awards are really a dime a dozen. In this case, however, the International Web Page Award recognition does mean something with even Wired magazine chiming in recently to say that this award contest was one of the top five internationally.
