Clarity, by Nanofilm, has taken the next step, introducing two new products, the Clarity Fog Eliminator and the Clarity Lens Cleaner. We put them both to the test on ski goggles, sport shields, eye glasses, and plain old sunglasses, and boy were we impressed!
These small packets come with a small dry cloth about the size of a wet towelette when unfolded. One tester, who has constant problems with sunglasses fogging up during outdoor activities like running or walking, was of course skeptical. But these cloths will now be a standard part of that person's workout gear bag. Simple enough, you just spend a few seconds wiping each side of a lens with the cloth, then fold up the cloth and put it back in the pouch it comes in. Voila! No eyewear fogging, no really! The beauty too is the ability to reuse the cloths, depending on the size of the lens or space you're treating for fogging, for up to about 10-15 times (less on larger areas like helmet visors). We've used one about eight to 10 times with no diminishing so far in results. And it's a heck of a lot easier and less gloppy to apply than other proclaimed anti-foggers.
We've used sprays, wipes, creams and other goop that claims to clean lenses and to be honest, none have really stood out above the rest. However, after a full month of using the pre-moistened lens wipes, our glasses and sunglasses lenses do seem cleaner. The Clarity wipes cut through fingerprints and other grease quickly, and they leave no smears or residue behind, unlike other wipes we've used. The towelettes are soft so that they do not damage even delicate lenses or lenses with easy-to-scratch coatings, and that's an essential plus. Our only quibble, and it is true of all wipes, is that when they are used once, you have to toss them, meaning more waste. For daily use, we'd recommend the spray on bottle of liquid you can use with a soft cloth designed for lens cleaning -- we didn't test it, but imagine the liquid spray formulation is similar to that of the wipes.
