AAC wants to know if you're smart and sassy

A round of merry applause from the SNEWS® team for the American Alpine Club's new series of playful "personals" ads that espouse, in a rather unorthodox manner -- at least for the AAC -- the benefits of becoming a member of The American Alpine Club. The first "Climbers Seeking Climbers" ad, which has just appeared at the newsstands in the November 2002 issue of Climbing Magazine (the ad space was provided to the AAC at no cost), is the first in a series of four slated to appear by year’s end in Rock & Ice, Backcountry and Backpacker magazines. The ad reads: "Are you the one for me? Adventurous, vigorous, and young-at-heart 100-year-old climber's org. seeks enthusiastic friends aged 9 to 99 with active alpine interests. You bring the passion and I'll supply the rescue insurance, research/expedition grants, huts, publications, extensive mountaineering library, experience, knowledge, and more. Won't you join me? Let's get together soon to work, play and protect the climbing experience for future generations. Diversity a plus. 2 years exp. req'd. 303-384-0110. Long-term relationships are possible. Start here: www.americanalpineclub.org."
