Since its inception in 1984, Teva® (a division of Deckers Outdoor Corporation NASDAQGS: DECK) has been synonymous with outdoor adventure. As the brand continues to expand its winter product offering with the introduction of its first après winter boot collection, The Lifty, it proudly announces the addition of skiers Michelle Parker, Kye Petersen and Matt Margetts to its professional athlete roster.
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome these guys to the Teva tribe,” says Teva Sports Marketing Manager Seth Pulford. “They are different in many ways; however, what they do share is natural talent, unique style and the drive to live for their passions. Their deep connection with the outdoor lifestyle and their conscious decisions to live better stories make them a perfect fit for the Teva brand."
Born in Truckee, CA, making Squaw Valley her home mountain, Michelle Parker was introduced to skiing at just 18 months old and turned professional at the age of 15. With a focus on filming in the backcountry, Michelle additionally decided to take a guide school course in Haines, AK, where she earned her Avalanche Level 1 to gain essential rescue and decision-making skills, as well as her WAFA medical certification – both required to operate in high-angle and glaciated terrain. When not competing or filming, Michelle enjoys mountain biking, climbing, yoga, camping and hiking.
Growing up in Whistler, BC Canada, Kye Petersen is comfortable in any terrain, but particularly loves the mountaineering side of skiing and snow sports. He’s traveled all over the world, preferring to head on foot into remote terrain to carve unique big-mountain lines and launch cliffs. Kye has taken firsts at the 2009 Red Bull Cold Rush and 2012 FWT Revelstoke, and appeared in at least 15 ski films – his most recent being Sherpas Cinema’s All.I.Can. Out of his skis, Kye also loves to skateboard, surf, hike, climb, and bike.
Also from BC Canada, Matt Margetts is currently a top-ranked Canadian and international halfpipe skier, a member of the newly formed Canadian National Halfpipe Team and an internationally recognized freeskier. He has graced the podium of professional competitions all across the globe and, with expectations that ski halfpipe will be added to the 2014 Winter Games, there will be even more opportunities to catch Matt in action in the seasons to come.
Born on the Colorado River in 1984, Teva’s connection to water is manifested in the products it makes and its support of clean water. The recently launched Lifty Collection of winter footwear featuring 3M Thinsulate™ LiteLoft™ insulation makes on-snow and aprés-ski adventures comfortable and warm, and Teva an official year-round brand. In partnership with the Waterkeeper Alliance, Surfrider Foundation and Ocean Conservancy, Teva’s “A Pair for a Foot” campaign will clean a linear foot of global waterways for every pair of shoes sold. The entire collection can be seen at www.teva.com.
