EXPANDED OUTDOOR TREKKING AND SLIP-ON COLLECTIONS REAFFIRM
BIRKI’S COMMITMENT TO OUTDOOR CONSUMERS FOR FALL 2013
Authentic Brand Combines Performance Features, Dynamic Footbed and Active Recovery™ With a Nod to Style
NOVATO, Calif. (January 23, 2012) – Birki’s (www.birki.us) footwear, a leading German manufacturer known for its authentic comfort heritage, is reinforcing its focus on the outdoor consumer for Fall 2013 with expanded Outdoor Trekking and slip-on collections. The line features Birki’s proprietary Dynamic Footbed, part of the brand’s Active Recovery System™, enabling outdoor enthusiasts to quickly recover from their activities. In addition to the Outdoor Trekking collection, Fall 2013 incorporates a mix of textures and colors in the new suede Sailors, felt Provence, and the two-tone slip-on Skippers in plaid — a nod to the casual sophistication of Birki’s. The line will be at retail in August at retailers such as Footwise, Happy Feet Plus and Instep, and on www.birki.us.
“Fall 2013 unites our classic Birki’s performance comfort heritage with modern style in footwear engineered for today’s outdoor devotee,” said Bill Taylor, vice president of sales and marketing for Birki’s. “Birki’s hallmark five-layer cork footbed is in all of our products, but our Dynamic Footbed raises the bar significantly in terms of comfort. We have not only incorporated performance details, but also, are infusing the line with rich fabrications and fresh colors that resonate with a younger consumer.”
Birki’s Dynamic Footbed consists of a midsole layer of viscoelastic “memory foam” that stabilizes the foot, for maximum shock absorption and pressure distribution. The result is a cushion-like, lasting comfort that protects feet during physical activity.
Birki’s footbeds are part of the brand’s Active Recovery System, enabling the body to enjoy immediate and lasting benefits from components such as: toe grips that improve blood circulation and exercise the foot; arch supports and a neutral footbed for secure proper alignment; and, a deep heel cup for stability and protection of the heel pad.
Birki’s products are eco-friendly, with a focus on responsible production, maximizing resources and minimizing waste. From solvent-free production to use of solar and recycled energy to creating biological communities, the company’s commitment to the environment is far reaching.
