Mission Anti-Friction Cream

Posted: 11/23/2009 In Category(s): Reviews :: Product Reviews

Not that we are kings and queens of chafing, but when you’re running, hiking, biking, working out, and generally on-the-go, sometimes chafe just happens. And when it does… OUCH.

Mission Anti-Friction Cream
An anti-friction cream is a must in any workout enthusiast’s bag o’ tricks. And Vaseline just won’t do anymore when there are companies like Mission putting out creams that feel good, stay on longer and don’t gunk up clothes.

We’ve tried a whole lot of anti-friction gels, creams and lotions, as well as bandages and other stick-ons with anti-chafe claims. So far, Mission’s cream – which the company calls “high-performance, athlete-engineered skincare” — has them all beat. Not only does it go on well, but it also feels good, lasts a long time and stays appropriately creamy (not runny or rock-hard) in various temperatures. It’s also paraben-free, odorless, and enriched with vitamins.

A great advantage is that the Mission cream won’t stain clothing, so you can even use it with everyday apparel if something is just rubbing you the wrong way.

A big plus is that the cream comes in a great tube that you can squeeze easily from the moment it’s full to the moment it’s practically empty. A flip top snaps and locks on reassuringly, and during our tests the top never came off at inopportune times to smear gunk where we didn’t want it.

Honestly, we have yet to suffer chafing while using the Mission cream. Our only criticism is that the company could offer a more portable stick or a smaller tube (the current one is 2 ounces), or perhaps a smaller squeeze container that we could refill after taking it along on runs or workouts.

But, other than that, we love this stuff. And the fact that the company is involved and donating to its athletes’ chosen charities is only a plus. Also in the line are sunscreens, lip balms, lotions, a body scrub and other skincare products.
