Hookers & Grubbers earn $834 for Conservation Alliance from ORSM match

At the third annual Hookers & Grubbers rugby match held during Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, 30 outdoor industry men and women not only arrived tired and left feeling quite sexy, they also raised a nice sum of money for the Conservation Alliance.
 
Honorary team coach Tom McCarthy and team manager Scott Duer reported to the team and SNEWS® that a check for $834.57 was on its way to the Conservation Alliance as of Oct. 28. The club also donated $200 to Utah Rugby as a thank-you for all of the support it has shown the outdoor industry club side since the first match in 2009.
 
The money was raised, in part, thanks to all of the sponsoring companies which contributed money, food, drinks, and supplies to help offset the expenses tied to the event. Sponsors included: Pitch Engine, Arborwear, The North Face, CamelBak, G3 Genuine Guide Gear, Aloe Up, Outside PR, Maxwell's, Big Sky Brewery, Ska Brewery, and Marvin Skis.
 
Those who played in the annual match paid for their official team jersey, with many players contributing more than the actual cost of the jersey to help bolster the donation to Conservation Alliance.  

In addition, the Hookers & Grubbers have an official team shopping site on Scrumbot.com (click here to visit ). The club receives 20 percent of the sales of all logoed items in the Hookers & Grubbers store. Duer told SNEWS that any proceeds from the site's sales of jersey's, hoodies, t-shirts and shorts between now and next summer’s match during Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2012 will continue to be donated to the Conservation Alliance. 
  
The Hookers & Grubbers are already planning for 2012, so mark your calendars for Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, day two. Whether or not you play, your support is appreciated and goes to a very good cause -- it's not just to make those who play feel sexy, although sending a check to Conservation Alliance sure feels pretty sexy.
