Black Diamond Strengthens Sales Team To Keep Pace With Growth

Black Diamond Equipment Ltd., a global leader in climbing, skiing and backcountry gear, formally announced a new round of hires and several key personnel changes to strengthen their sales force and to better meet their strategic growth objectives.

"We continue to see exceptional growth overseas, as well as domestically in hardware, lighting, packs and trekking poles to name a few,” comments Peter Metcalf CEO. “The success of several major initiatives in the past year has added to the dynamic atmosphere here at BD. With this momentum, we are proud to tap some strong players to bolster our team and help us achieve even more success.”

After serving 3 years in the role of International Sales Manager for Black Diamond Equipment, Bill Crouse will bring his strong background in all things BD to their European headquarters in Reinach, Switzerland. Dave Drulard, formerly of The North Face, moves into Crouse’s former role as International Sales Manager. While at The North Face, Drulard most recently served as the manager of their REI account and brings a ground-up passion for all the sports BD represents. Drulard will manage the international distributor base, working with Joel Lee and the rest of international sales team.

In other key staff moves here in North America, Jean Pierre Quellet (aka Peewee) joins fellow Canadian Ghislain Leroux of Gamic Sports serving Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and the Nova Scotia territories. Quellet brings a strong knowledge of the Canadian dealer base and a solid sales resume accrued from his former position at Petzl America. In addition, he will be a great asset to the BD global climbing team. Joe Spataro also joined the BD team at their SLC headquarters back in June as a new product designer for the climb and ski lines. Spataro comes from Astro Design.

BD Europe welcomes newcomer Christoph Driever as the in-house Sales Agent for Germany. Driever, a passionate climber and skier, brings a wealth of industry experience from Scarpa, Petzl, and Osprey to the BD team. Sabastian Weiche moves into the new role of Sales Manager for Central Europe and Michal Smrz, coming from Entre Prises, will lead as the European In-house Sales Manager. Rounding out the changes for BD Europe, Daniel Frutiger joins as the in-house Sales Agent for Switzerland. Lastly in Asia, Geoff Yu joins the company as the Managing Director of BD Asia.
