Life Fitness Receives Top Design Award

Life Fitness has received a global 2009 GOOD DESIGN Award for its Elevation Series Recumbent Lifecycle Exercise Bicycle. The award is given by the Chicago Athenaeum/Europe: Museum of Architecture and Design, recognizing the annual achievements of the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product and graphic design work across the globe.

The Life Fitness Elevation Series Recumbent Lifecycle Bicycle was singled-out for its break-through design, accompanied by its easy-to-use functionality. The Elevation Series Lifecycle Bike offers iPod compatibility and arm rests that provide extra stability for the active aging and those new to fitness. A ‘step-thru’ design also lets users easily get on and off the machine.

This prestigious award remains the oldest and the world’s most recognized program for design excellence worldwide. Life Fitness was the only equipment manufacturer in the fitness industry to receive a 2009 GOOD DESIGN Award.

“We are committed to providing our customers with products that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but that are also easy for their members to use,” said John Stransky, president of Life Fitness. “It’s rewarding to see that our hard work and intentions are being recognized by reputable organizations such as the Chicago Athenaeum/Europe.”

This year the Museum received a record number of entries from 48 countries around the world – ranging from a NASA Manned Mars Exploration vehicle for 2030 to a Green Design clean water filtering system for rural South Africa. Products were selected for quality design of the highest form, function and aesthetic – a standard beyond ordinary consumer products and graphics.

The Life Fitness Elevation Recumbent Lifecycle Exercise Bike is featured, along with the rest of the award winners, on the Museum’s Web site at chi-athenaeum.org, and will be recognized during a formal event in 2010.
