Newton Running Launches National Series of Natural Running Symposiums

Posted: 03/01/2010 In Category: Fitness Trade Shows / Events

Industry News Release Written By: Ian Anderson

Over the past year, the running industry and the national news media have been abuzz debating the merits of barefoot running and minimalist shoes. Newton Running, a pioneer in the ‘natural running revolution’ hopes to shed some light on the debate with a national series of free symposiums focused on running biomechanics, shoe technology and running injury prevention, led by a group of expert running coaches, athletes and doctors.

“There’s a tremendous amount of discussion, confusion and misinformation in the running world right now about running form and shoe design,” states Newton president, Stephen Gartside. “We want to help educate runners about the benefits of proper form, choosing proper running shoes and preventing common running injuries.”

At 6 p.m. on March 2 at Luke's Locker in Dallas, Texas, Newton Running is hosting its first Natural Running Symposium. The seminar is free and open to the public and features Newton Running co-founder and running form expert Danny Abshire, Newton's R&D/Education director and adventure racing world champion Ian Adamson, and running science expert Dr. Mark Cucuzzella . On Tuesday evening, the group will lead an informative discussion about biomechanics, injury prevention and running shoe design. Then on Wednesday morning, the team will lead a Natural Running form clinic starting at the Dallas store.

Additional symposiums will be hosted March 19-20 at Marathon Sports in Boston and March 25-26 at Road Runner Sports in San Diego. Newton plans to host educational symposiums in conjunction with its key retailers across the country throughout the year. A full calendar of events will be updated on newtonrunning.com.
