Power Plate North America continues to build team of fitness industry leaders, prepares for product launch

IRVINE, Calif. (February 08, 2010) – Power Plate North America (PPNA), the leader in Acceleration Training™ fitness machines, is building on its 2009 U.S. growth with the addition of industry veterans Fred Heim and Shawn Patton in key sales and marketing roles as it prepares for the launch of an innovative new product in the first quarter of 2010. The announcement follows the appointments last year of Gregg Hammann, formerly with Nautilus, to global CEO, Power Plate International (PPI) and Mark de Gorter, a 25-year industry veteran, to president, PPNA.  Heim has been named vice president of brand connection for PPNA and Patton has been named vice president of sales, national accounts, rounding out the all-star executive team.

Prior to joining Power Plate North America, Fred Heim formerly served as the marketing director for Mad Dogg Athletics and managed the legendary indoor cycling brand Spinning, as well as the other brands in the Mad Dogg Athletics portfolio including Peak Pilates, Body Blade and Resistaball.  Throughout his career, he has managed products and campaigns for several notable brands including Nike, Rollerblade, Red Bull, Merck, Polaris, and retail giants Target and Wal-Mart.  In his new role as vice president of brand connection, he will drive critical programs by connecting Power Plate equipment to core constituents including consumers, trade partners and the fitness training community throughout North America and assist in growing the brand on a worldwide level.  In his new role, Heim will be working out of the company’s North American headquarters in Irvine, California.

Throughout his 20-year career, Shawn Patton has been consistently recognized as one of the industry’s more innovative sales professionals, and a proven leader in taking fitness manufacturers from start-up to successful multi-million dollar levels through explosive sales growth.  He most recently led sales for Octane Fitness, where he launched and led the commercial fitness division.  Prior to this, he was instrumental in growing sales of a radically new concept in institutional exercise and rehabilitation equipment for Icon Health and Fitness (Freemotion Fitness), and spent a decade in sales and business development at Cybex International, maker of premium exercise equipment for commercial and consumer use, where he was one of the first fitness representatives.  Patton will be working out of his Dallas, Texas office.
