DURANGO, CO – According to a report from eweek.com, the number of people using their mobile devices on a daily basis to access news and other information more than doubled between January 2008 and January 2009, to 22.4 million. More than a third of smartphone users (37%) get news from their iPhone and Blackberry devices. And, when the outdoor trade publication SNEWS recently polled more than 30 industry executives about what their favorite laptop bag was, SNEWS were told “Who needs a laptop bag when you have a smartphone.”

To get the app, visit the Verde mobile site, and download the Verde icon to your phone by pressing the “+” button and adding it to your home screen. Unlike traditional mobile apps, Verde’s application isn’t housed on iTunes, but rather on the agency’s uniquely branded mobile Web site. The Verde mobile app is compatible with the iPhone and iTouch (downloadable icon for home screen) and can be used with any other smartphone operating systems – minus the downloadable icon.
