SCHILLER PARK, Ill., May 28, 2009 – Keeping with tradition, more than 40 seventh and eighth grade students from Albany Park Multicultural Academy (APMA) in Chicago, visited the facilities of Life Fitness in nearby Franklin Park on May 13, to get an insider’s look at the fitness industry from a manufacturing perspective. The tour is an extension of the relationship between APMA and Life Fitness, having worked together for three years to provide comprehensive fitness programming through the company’s Circuit Series strength-training system made available for students’ use and comment at the Chicago public school.

“We were once again able to personally thank the children who have provided such valuable feedback on our products, while also giving the students visibility to the science and business behind the exercise equipment they see in their school,” said John Stransky, president of Life Fitness. “We hope that their visit reinforced the importance of health and fitness, and that they can apply what they have learned to their daily lives. Hopefully, this will be a tradition that carries on for years to come.”

The sessions at the Life Fitness facilities focused on engineering, marketing, biomechanics and training through the Life Fitness Academy, the company’s training and education arm. The students also toured the factory floor, visited and observed both the company’s product testing labs and Life Fitness’ unique and state-of-the-art biomechanics lab.

“We are so thankful that Life Fitness is generous enough to provide us with a comprehensive overview of how they run such a successful business,” said Eileen O’Toole, principal of APMA. “The experience is extremely valuable for the students in bringing both fitness and career opportunities and information to life.”
