Founders of the Merino Wool Revolution to Launch Retail Strategy

(Steamboat Springs, CO) The original founders of the merino wool revolution, Peter and Patty Duke, will launch a traditional retail strategy starting in January 2009 with what they consider their best product yet – point6 merino wool socks.
Their new line of active, outdoor, lifestyle, cycling, skiing and snowboarding socks incorporate:

· 100% compact spun merino wool: this new spinning technique has proven to reduce the pilling typically associated with wool fiber
· Hand looped toe closures: virtually eliminates the bump of the toe seam for unparalleled comfort
· A deep heel pocket: a structured pocket helps the heel stay in place

Combined, these elements provide a superior product with increased comfort and performance. While these features add expense to production of the socks, point6 will ensure their retail pricing is competitive.

“We will come to market with an aggressive buying program for retailers allowing them to incorporate premium point6 products into their stores with very little risk during this volatile economy,” said Duke. “We believe retailers will appreciate the large company experience of our team, the friendly, small company quality of our relationships and the simplicity of our performance-focused product line.”

Point6 will attend both the Outdoor Retailer and SIA tradeshows in January, where they will share a groundbreaking buying program for retail friends both old and new. In addition to the Dukes, the current point6 team includes merino sock experts Betsy Seabert, Jodi Lightfoot, Chris Rounds and Deanna Wille. Point6 will introduce the 2009 ski and snowboard sock lines at the tradeshows, as well as their active, outdoor, cycling and lifestyle sock collections.

When the current owners of Makoto USA saw the game that would become Makoto at an arcade in 2002, they immediately realized its potential to provide both physical and mental fitness for anyone, from athletes to the elderly to folks in rehab. The SNEWS® team first saw a Makoto at the Health & Fitness Business show in Denver several years ago and, after playing it (over and over, we must admit), we had to get one for the office.

WS 100 endurance run observations: Product, privacy and sloshing packs
"I was hanging out helping brain-dead runners summit the Devil’s Thumb climb in the Western States 100 last Saturday, June 27. It’s a nasty, rocky, 1,500 foot climb over 1.8 miles that comes for most in the hottest part of the day. And it was pretty hot, dry and dusty last weekend. As I escorted runner after runner from the top to the medical aid weigh-in, got their bottles and packs refilled, and"
