Director of Marketing - Suunto

 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily:
 
  • Administer logistics of national tradeshows and assign personnel accordingly.
  • Responsible for budgeting tradeshows, events, product and advertising.
  • Coordinate product placement and materials required for annual Sales Meetings.
  • Oversee Suunto’s public relations division.
  • Act as a liaison between Suunto and PR firm, apprising them of new product and info.
  • Maintain high level of customer service and relations with editors and PR firms.
  • Maintain high level of communication to field sales team.
  • Prepare the annual marketing budget.
  • Conduct interviews, selection and hiring when requested.
  • Continually oversee merchandising material, inventory, displays and events.
  • Manage, design and source new and current POP
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Manage, create and distribute promotional material for Suunto product.
  • Convey U.S. Marketing trends to Finland and continually deploy top selling tools. 
  • Oversee, maintain and secure future sales with house accounts.
  • Manage, all direct reports (Marketing Associate and Sports Marketing Manager).
  • Set goals and bonus programs for all direct reports
  •  Administer media buys and insertion orders.
  • Localize advertising and collateral creatives from Finland.
  • Handle contract negotiations and proposals from all media agencies.
  • Tracking media and advertising budget/billing.
  • Work closely with Suunto Canada to find overlaps and synergies
  • Create and implement innovative and effective sales and marketing programs to drive traffic and increase sales revenue and profit margins.
 
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Oversees Marketing Associate and Sports Marketing Manager.
 
 
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university and 2 years related experience in a similarly complex environment. Additional experience can be used in lieu of degree.

When the current owners of Makoto USA saw the game that would become Makoto at an arcade in 2002, they immediately realized its potential to provide both physical and mental fitness for anyone, from athletes to the elderly to folks in rehab. The SNEWS® team first saw a Makoto at the Health & Fitness Business show in Denver several years ago and, after playing it (over and over, we must admit), we had to get one for the office.
