General Summary and Responsibilities:

Serves as mechanical technician to build, test, install, repair, and maintain industrial equipment and machinery.

Essential Functions:

• Fabricate parts, assemblies, and tooling for machinery used in manufacturing from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions using precision machine tools, basic shop power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools.
• Design and build jigs, fixtures and special tools as needed.
• Fabricate prototype parts and tooling for new product development.
• Provide support for new and existing machinery and equipment by assembling, installing, testing, modifying, or repairing electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
• Provide support for Production Maintenance by fabricating or repairing machine parts when needed.
• Provide backup support for Production Maintenance by troubleshooting plant equipment or production line problems when needed.

Education/Certifications:

2 year technical degree (A.S.) or completion of apprenticeship program, or equivalent on-the-job experience. 

Experience:

At least 5 years experience in a machine shop, mechanical engineering, or industrial maintenance environment.

Skills:

• Precision machining using manual lathes, mills, drills, saws, etc.
• CNC programming, setup, and operation desirable, but not essential.
• Proficiency interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics.
• Welding and fabricating using MIG and TIG processes.
• Working knowledge of machine control systems and devices, including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls.
• Troubleshooting skills helpful.
• Interpersonal and communication skills essential.
