As a member of the Sales team, the Technical Representative Manager will be responsible for creating, launching, and managing the The North Face Technical Representative (Rep) Force. The Technical Reps are responsible for educating The North Face retailers and consumers across the United States. Their scope of coverage includes store clinics, events, dealer outings, gear demos, and more. Some of your primary duties include:
· Hiring field personnel for all Technical Representative territories. Working with Human Resources on interviewing, new hire placements, training, and on-boarding.
· Organizing all related work materials for the department, including automobiles, computers, cell phones, and product clinic supplies (including products, components, outside vendor materials/support).
· Developing comprehensive coverage maps for each territory that detail target dealers, frequency of visit, and seasonal support of events/outings.
· Working with Research Design & Development (RD&D) to ensure a consistent focus on key seasonal technologies, innovations. Providing feedback from the field on the positives and negatives heard from local dealers and consumers.
· Working with Marketing to understand the The North Face events schedule – supporting at the grass roots level. Also ensuring key marketing initiatives are fully understood and communicated to the dealer base during peak times.
· Working closely with the The North Face Sales Reps / Directors to understand all retailer needs and initiatives. Periodically travel with Sales Reps to understand future assortments and goals of the merchants.
· Creating a program/process for tracking the ROI of the Tech Rep Program. This will include analyzing the effect of educational efforts on retailer sell through and future bookings – all at the The North Face product category level.
· Creating channel specific clinic concepts that speak to the unique needs of that retailer.
· Developing an effective way for the Tech Reps to communicate with each other – via blogs, portals, etc.
Requirements
We are looking for an individual with a BA/BS degree in Marketing or Business or related field, a minimum of 8+ years of related sales professional experience, and successful experience in managing a sales training workforce . Strong understanding of business data management, excellent MS Office application skills including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, strong fundamental understanding of the outdoor retail industry, excellent organizational skills (planning and scheduling) and attention to detail, and strong management skills. Travel is required.
