SNEWS® Live: The biannual breakfast meeting of the Conservation Alliance welcomed outdoor professionals from around the country to Salt Lake City, Utah. Those attending Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2008 packed an expanded ballroom to hear a much-anticipated keynote speaker.
Ironically, Dr. John Francis, a noted scholar of environmental science, is perhaps best known for not speaking, having maintained a vow of silence for 17 years. He also spent 22 years of his life without riding in any form of motorized transport, electing instead to walk, sometimes across country, in the name of environmental protection.
SNEWS® Live presents Francis' address to the Conservation Alliance in its entirety. Fran Farrell, the publisher of National Geographic Adventure, provides the introduction.
