(Watertown, NY) – 2006 Whitewater Freestyle World Cup organizers will introduce kids, teens and adults to the fun and excitement of whitewater paddling beyond its traditional boutique image, now that freestyle may have the Olympics in its future.

The 2006 Freestyle Kayaking World Cup will promote the new, internationally sanctioned sport by reinforcing the appeal and accessibility of kayaking to over 200 million television households in over 120 countries, broadcast online and to handheld devices on three successive weekends later this year: September 1, 2, and 3, Ottawa River, Canada; September 9, 10, and 11 - Black River, Watertown, New York; and September 15, 16, 1nad 17 – Caney Fork River, Rock Island, Tennessee

“Paddling and enjoying Class II+ whitewater will be redefined,” notes Tommy Gunn, Co-owner of Black Water Development, host for the Black River Challenge, the second event of the series. “Our ambitious plan will invite outdoor enthusiasts into the lives of the athletes and locals, relating to those who are primarily weekend warriors. “We are excited about sharing our sport with the world.”
