Alpha Fitness says thanks for responses, shares post-Katrina store photo

Posted: 09/16/2005 In Category(s): Extras :: Special Reports, Fitness

Of specialty fitness stores, Alpha Fitness Equipment apparently received the worst of Hurricane Katrina, as we reported Sept. 2, 2005 ("Fitness and sporting goods stores/personnel hit by Katrina and aftermath," click here to read story).

Since our report in SNEWS®, owner Larry Thonn told us his impressions and dilemma in a touching report (Sept. 8, 2005, "Alpha Fitness Equipment loses business, warehouse, inventory, home in Katrina," click here to read). That essay solicited a flood of responses, he said, including job offers for displaced staff; Thonn offers big thanks to all.

Now he has shared a post-Katrina picture of his store in Chalmette, below, and it makes us cringe. For comparison, we have printed a picture from his website below it of his storefront before the storm.

He can be reached at lean@leanabs.com.
